Lesli E. Skolarus MD, MS

Dr. Skolarus is an Associate Professor of Neurology at the University of Michigan. She is a board-certified, fellowship-trained, vascular neurologist whose research focuses on behavioral trials to promote health equity through community based participatory research and health services research. She holds a Master’s degree in Health and Health Care Research. Her research is at the intersection of the community and medical care which is truly unique within neurology. She is currently the principal investigator of an NIH-funded U01 award to increase acute stroke treatment rates in Flint, Michigan, an R01 to reduce blood pressure among the working age population in Flint and an R01 to understand the drivers of racial disparities in post-stroke disability. She is passionate about improving the health of the people of Michigan and in particular the health of the Flint community. Dr. Skolarus has published over 70 peer-reviewed manuscripts. Additionally, Dr. Skolarus is an excellent educator as noted by her selection to Michigan Medicine’s Doctoring Course faculty. She also cares for neurology patients in the hospital, stroke patients in clinic and takes acute stroke night and weekend call for Michigan Medicine and tele-stroke.
