Koto Ishida MD

Koto Ishida, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Neurology and the Medical Director of Stroke at NYU Langone Health. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley and her medical degree from the University of Rochester where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Prior to arriving at NYU in 2013, she completed her neurology residency and vascular neurology fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. Ishida is passionately dedicated to improving graduate medical education at all levels and as such serves as the Associate Program Director for the NYU neurology residency. She recently stepped down as Program Director for the NYU vascular neurology fellowship which she established in 2014. She has received multiple teaching awards including the Penn Pearls award for excellence in clinical teaching and NYU neurology teacher of the year. She actively publishes in stroke research, often in conjunction with the trainees that she mentors and serves as principle investigator in multiple clinical research trials. She also serves on multiple national committees for both the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA) as well as the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) where she helps lead the development of national guidelines and performance metrics surrounding quality stroke care.
