Dr. Kiran Thakur is an assistant professor in the Division of Critical Care and Hospitalist Neurology at Columbia University Medical Center, and co-leads the community and global neurology program. Dr. Thakur completed post-doctoral fellowship training in neuroinfectious diseases and neuroimmunology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. She has worked in 8 countries providing clinical care and performing research on neuroinfectious diseases, and is currently involved in research studies in India and Malawi. She has been involved in scientific and public health efforts around the Zika virus outbreak, and has a specialized interest in emerging neurotropic infections. Additionally, she serves as a consultant for the World Health Organization.
