David M. Raizen MD, PhD

Dr. David Raizen is a physician scientist in the Department of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He obtained in MD and PhD degrees at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas Texas. He did his residency and fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on basic mechanisms of sleep regulation. He introduced the powerful model system C. elegans into the sleep research field and has made use of this system to elucidated molecular- and circuit-based mechanisms of sleep both in health and in sickness.
